Lengthy letter to his wife, written from a small outpost in Minnesota. In part: “Ever since your letter from New York fixing the time of your departure from there I had always hoped that this week would bring you home, but now I see that cannot be, and another week must pass before I can have you with me…You can never understand dear wife how such a wife is perfectly consistent with a longing for you at home when your love is all and all to me. I feel very impatient for the time to fly away fast in order that I may again have my little wife.” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, with the stamp clipped off.
