American artist and illustrator (1877–1960) best known for his iconic image of Uncle Sam saying “I Want You” on a World War I recruiting poster. Fabulous original unsigned ink and watercolor work by Flagg, on an off-white 11 x 8.5 sheet. Work depicts Flagg, holding a copy of “Balzac’s Droll Stories,” patting Ham Fisher on the head as the two share an NBC microphone, with Flagg’s handwritten caption reading, “’They can’t push this mike any lower, Ham—Couldn’t you lie down with it on the floor?’ (From Radio Life & Divertissement of Flagg & Fisher).” In fine condition, with a bisecting horizontal fold, and some light rippling from watercolor.
