German author (1898–1970) best known for his classic World War I novel All Quiet on the Western Front. TLS in German, one page, 8.5 x 11.75, personal letterhead, August 30, 1955. Letter to Kurt Hirschfeld at the Zurich theater. In part (translated): “The theater piece that I have written is as ready as a theater piece can be without rehearsal. Should you be interested you can call me to Porto Ronco.
