Famed shortstop and manager (1874–1955), widely regarded as one of the best all-around players of his era, who was one of the five original inductees into the Hall of Fame in 1936. ALS, in pencil, signed “Jay,” on the correspondence side of a 5.5 x 3.5 picture postcard of the Newark, Ohio High School, no date, but postmarked December 2, 1912. Postcard to his future wife, Bessie Baine Smith. In full: “Hello Jerry, Just got here will stop over then start in morning. Just 15 miles from the place. Best to all allso [sic].” Originally acquired from the Honus Wagner Estate sale. Encapsulated in a plastic PSA/DNA authentication holder.
