Revolutionary War soldier, lawyer, senator, and vice president under Jefferson (1756–1836), probably best known for mortally wounding Alexander Hamilton in a duel on July 11, 1804. ALS signed “A. Burr,” one page, 8 x 9.5, no date but textually indicating 1826. Letter to Samuel Hopkins discussing a legal case. In part, “Please to procure and to forward to me a certified copy of Boyd’s afft in the case of Vanick & Bacon & then to ask the court to permit you to take back the affts which were offered by the plff…The case of Burr…vs. Baldwin Ex. has been noticed for Trial by Record…please to get the papers from M. Williams & attend to it.” Integral second page bears an address panel done in another hand as well as several notations. In fine condition, with a couple small separations along mailing folds and some minor spotting and toning, with heavier wear to second page. RRAuction COA.
