Description

Unusual and attractive bank check drawn on the Jewish Colonial Trust signed by Vladimir Jabotinsky

Russian Zionist leader (1880–1940) who produced a number of influential writings on Zionist issues and founded the Jewish League during World War I. Jewish Colonial Trust bank check, 6 x 3.25, filled out and signed by Jabotinsky, payable to Miss Petersen for £2.5.0, July 10, 1920. The Jewish Colonial Trust, first established in England in 1899, was conceived by the political Zionists as a financial instrument which should hold in trust the moneys of the Zionists for the direct purposes of the movement, and, at the same time, should act as a bank and carry on business according to the methods of the commercial world. Two vertical folds, and bank stamps and cancellation marks to body, with one stamp over a majority of signature, otherwise fine condition. RRAuction COA.
