In full: “The Seamen belonging to the Susan have repeatedly applied to me representing themselves to be in a destitute and distressed condition. It appears to me that while their wages are denied them, they must be provided for, as well as the Seamen of the Baltimore, and I beg leave to recommend them to your official assistance.” Double matted and framed with a portrait of Adams to an overall size of 20.25 x 16.
