Guglielmo Marconi

Nobel Prize–winning, Italian-born engineer (1874–1937) whose development of “wireless telegraphy,” better known to the world at large as radio, would come to exert a profound and immeasurable influence not only on communications, but on modern civilization itself. TLS signed “G. Marconi,” one page, 8.5 x 10.75, Reale Accademia D’Italia letterhead, November 19, 1935. Marconi writes to Miss D. M. B. Collier in London. In part: “Many thanks for the copy of your book…. The book looks very attractive and I hope to find time to go through it some day. As regards your brother I shall be glad to speak to Mr. Clarke when I shall next see him, which should be rather soon….” In very good condition, with creasing (horizontal crease through paraph; edge separations touching text), wrinkling, and marginal tear to top edge.
