One of the four co-founders of Harley-Davidson (1881–1950) who was responsible for setting up the company’s nationwide network of dealers. TLS, one page, 8.25 x 10.75, Harley-Davidson letterhead, November 27, 1922. Davidson writes to C. E. Roberts in Vader, Washington. In part: “I am glad to welcome you to the growing family of Harley-Davidson riders. I say ‘family’ because we are all just like a big family—we Harley-Davidson riders—and back here at the factory we feel that all you people who are riding the machines we build are sort of related to us… I want you to get the greatest possible pleasure and use out of your motorcycle, and you will if you give it a fair chance. You’ll become so attached to it that it will seem like a pal; that is, you will if you’re like most Harley-Davidson riders…. Let us hear from you now and then—and when you’re in the neighborhood of the factory—drop in! The latch string is always out….” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. Intersecting folds (vertical fold to first name), mild handling wear, and light soiling with a few marginal stains, otherwise fine condition. RRAuction COA.
