Slovak physician and diplomat (1566–1621), aka Jan Jessenius, who was executed per his own prediction in the wake of political intrigues following the defeat of Frederick of Bohemia by Ferdinand II. Uncommon ink signature, “Johann: Jessenius à Jessen,” on an off-white 3.25 x 4.5 slip bearing additional notations in Latin and the date August 27, 1601, affixed to a same-sized slip.
