“SUCCESSFUL AGAINST THE EISENHOWER LANDSLIDE”: Days after his first senatorial victory, JFK sends grateful thanks to a supporter

TLS signed “Jack,” one page, 8 x 10.25, House of Representatives letterhead, November 13, 1952. JFK writes to a supporter named Fred. In part: “I want you to know how grateful I am to you for all of your help over the past months. I am certain that we would never have been so successful against the Eisenhower landslide if it had not been for the effectiveness of our organization, and organization, in my opinion that was the best that the state had ever seen. I am particularly appreciative of your help—for I know that the campaign took far too much of your efforts and energy away from your work, but it made all the difference and I am greatly indebted to you....” After signing, Kennedy adds a handwritten postscript: “Fred—You did a terrific job—and I am very indebted to your for all of your help. I hope to see you soon.” Kennedy won his first senatorial race a just over a week earlier, on November 4. Light wavy wrinkles to upper left corner and a light diagonal crease through central portion of letter, otherwise fine condition. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
