Vintage glossy 7 x 9 photo of a younger deMille, signed and inscribed in ink, “To J. Willis Sayre—A good critic for more years than I have been a producer, Greetings, Cecil B. deMille, 1903–1923–1945.” Pencil notations on the reverse include the date 1923 (when the image was taken) and indicate that the signature was obtained on July 21, 1945. The inscribee, James Willis Sayre (1877–1963), was a longtime theatre critic and historian in Seattle. Scattered creases (one to cheek) and surface marks, otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
