Three items: two one-page ALS, 1994 and 1998, signed “Alan” and “Alan Shepard,” the first mentioning the passing of his mother and sending a check from his mother’s estate, the second sending New Year’s greetings and mentioning that he hopes to visit. Also included is a 1997 TLS, signed “Alan Shepard,” expressing sorrow at the loss of the recipient’s husband and sending a check to help with funeral expenses. The original recipient of the letters was in the employ of the Shepard family for more than 35 years. Accompanied by the original mailing envelopes, one with Shepard’s handwritten return address.
