Official Spalding National League baseball signed in blue and black ink by 26 members of the 1917 New York Giants baseball team. Ball is highlighted by a side panel signature of Jim Thorpe [who was with the Giants in 1917 but was sold to the Cincinnati Reds early in the season], as well as a signature of manager John McGraw [led the Giants to 10 pennants and three World Series victories, and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1937] on another side panel. Other signers include: Lew McCarty, Fred Schaeffer, Slim Sallee, Bill Rariden, Rube Benton, Jack Onslow, George Gibson, Walter Holke, Red Murray, Jeff Tesreau, Ferdie Schupp, Jim Smith, Pol Perritt, Al Baird, Al Demaree, George Burns, Heinee Zimmerman, Arthur Fletcher, and Charlie Herzog. Accompanied by the separated remnants of the original box. Thorpe’s signature very light, and only partially legible, with several other signatures only partially legible, even overall toning to ball, as well as some stretching to cover around seams, otherwise good to very good condition.
