An appointment for James Payne as sheriff of Fluvanna County. A wax and paper seal remains intact at lower left. Horiztonal folds (one though “James Monroe”; small holes and partial separations elsewhere, some repaired from reverse), light show-through from docket to reverse, and mild scattered toning and wrinkling, otherwise fine condition.
