Fabled blues-rock singer (1943–1970) who died of a herion overdose at the age of 27. Felt tip signature, “Janis Joplin,” on an off-white 5.75 x 7 album page. Also signed underneath Joplin’s signature by founding member and guitarist of Big Brother and the Holding Company, Sam Andrew. Near the end of 1968, Joplin left the band with Andrew and formed a new backing group, the Kozmic Blues Band, with whom she recorded I Got Dem Ol’ Kozmic Blues Again Mama! in 1969.
