Description

Playing his biggest hit

American composer and pianist (1898–1937) who was one of the first musicians to attain resounding international success in both the popular and “serious” spheres. While he occupies a secure place among the most gifted songwriters in the history of music, his output extended far beyond the Broadway stage to include concerti and other large-scale concert works, chamber and instrumental music, and the landmark opera Porgy and Bess. Page from a program featuring a performance by Gershwin with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, 5.75 x 9, no date, boldly signed in blue ink. Gershwin played his Concerto in F and the Rhapsody in Blue; his An American in Paris was also on the program. In very fine condition. R&R COA.
