Wife of Napoleon and Empress of France, born Joséphine de Beauharnais (1763–1814), who married the general in 1796 and, infertile and unable to produce an heir, was divorced from him in 1810. LS in French, one page, 5 x 6.25, no date. An untranslated letter evidently asking a favor on behalf of a gentleman. Matted and framed with a photo to an overall size of 21.75 x 17.75. In very good condition, with scattered staining and soiling (lightly touching signature) and a few wrinkles. The signature is dark and otherwise unaffected. R&R COA.
