Partly printed DS as president, one page, 20.5 x 16, July 1, 1809. A four-language ship’s papers issued to Manning Merrill, “master or commander of the schooner called Friendship … lying at present in the port of New York bound for St. Bartholomew and laden with fish, beef, port, vinegar, hams, cheese, lard, candles, soap, crackers, beans, butter.” Countersigned by R[obert] Smith as secretary of state. Two paper seals remain intact in the left margin. In very good to fine condition, with intersecting folds (small holes and separations; associated edge chips), scattered light toning (mainly along folds; small paperclip stain at left edge), and a few mild wrinkles and creases.
