Partly printed DS as president, one page on vellum, 16 x 19.75, May 20, 1865. A commission for Elijah R. Craft as assistant adjutant general of volunteers with rank of captain. Countersigned by Edwin Stanton as secretary of war. The embossed paper seal remains intact at upper left. Heavy intersecting creases (touching Stanton’s signature) and a few scattered stains (faint stain to first name), otherwise fine condition. An unusually bright, crisp example!
