Description

Luigi Cherubini (1760–1842), highly praised by Beethoven, was best known for his operas (including the repertory staple Médée) and large-scale choral works; Jean-François Le Sueur (1760–1837), teacher of Berlioz, Thomas, Gounod, and other notables, composed several operas and oratorios. LS in French, signed “Le Sueur” and “L. Cherubini”,” one page, 6.25 x 8, October 7, 1818. An untranslated letter of recommendation to the “Intendant General.” Faint intersecting folds, mild soiling, and staining, and notation slightly touching first letter of Cherubini’s signature, otherwise fine condition.
