Color proof for the artwork for the Grateful Dead’s 1989 Built to Last Tour tee shirt, printed on felt, 16 x 20, signed in blue ballpoint by Jerry Garcia and Billy Kruetzman, and in black felt tip by Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, and Phil Lesh. (Keyboardist Brent Mydland died three months before the piece was signed.) The playing-card motif was carried over from the group’s Built to Last album, their thirteenth and final studio effort. The item was donated by Grateful Dead manager Daniel Rifkin to a 1990 Japanese charity auction in 1990. Included with the item is a photocopy of the original letter from Rifkin to the auction organizer, dated October 15, 1999, reading, in part, “Here are 2 pieces of Grateful Dead artwork signed by the band. Good luck with your fund raising event.” Also accompanied by a letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA. Double matted to an overall size of 20 x 25. In fine condition, with Garcia’s and Kruetzman’s signatures a shade or two light but completely legible. A unique and eye-catching piece of Dead history! COA Roger Epperson/REAL and R&R COA. Oversized.
