Famed Italian tenor (1873–1921) whose unprecedented popularity, which extended well beyond the rarefied realm of opera, made him the first superstar of the recording era. Handwritten calligraphic menu from the Hotel Knickerbocker, New York, evidently for a luncheon or dinner in Caruso’s honor, 5.25 x 8, March 21, 1917, signed in ink on the inside front cover “Enrico Caruso.” The menu has also been signed by three others (two unidentified), one of whom, composer Richard Barthelemy, had added an AMQS in pencil. A touch of light scattered soiling, and partial separation at “spine” fold, otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
