Distinguished American poet (1807–1882) who produced such timeless classics as “Paul Revere’s Ride,” “The Song of Hiawatha,” and “Evangeline.” He was the first American honored with a sculpted likeness in the “Poet’s Corner” of Westminster Abbey. Partly printed DS, signed “Henry W. Longfellow,” one page, 7.5 x 3, April 3, 1860. A check-like receipt acknowledging payment from W. D. Ticknor Co. of $150.00 “for copy[righ]t on 1000 Hiawatha.” Longfellow’s epic poem “The Song of Hiawatha” was first published in 1855.
