Royalties from his most famous work

Distinguished American poet (1807–1882) who produced such timeless classics as “Paul Revere’s Ride,” “The Song of Hiawatha,” and “Evangeline.” He was the first American honored with a sculpted likeness in the “Poet’s Corner” of Westminster Abbey. Partly printed DS, signed “Henry W. Longfellow,” one page, 7.5 x 3, April 3, 1860. A check-like receipt acknowledging payment from W. D. Ticknor Co. of $150.00 “for copy[righ]t on 1000 Hiawatha.” Longfellow’s epic poem “The Song of Hiawatha” was first published in 1855. Matted and framed with an engraving to an overall size of 14.5 x 15.5. Vertical folds (two touching signature) and light scattered soiling and handling wear, otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
