ALS signed “R. B. Hayes,” one page, 6 x 9.5, Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States letterhead, March 20, 1885. Hayes writes to “Thea,” evidently a relative. In part: “‘Cold huckleberry puddin’ here. Zero this morning. The same snow still on the ground in large sheets & patches which fell two months ago. But all well and happy. My love to Maggie—your mother—Lucy [probably his wife] … the whole of you in a lump. Embarrassing how to order these things.
