Collection of more than 1,100 ink signatures contained in 21 albums and several more loose pages, slips, and cards, 1950s–early 1980s (the vast majority dating from the 1950s). Nearly all of the signatures are single sided. Many are inscribed and/or, per the popular collecting practice of the day, bear affixed magazine photos (which in many cases can be matted out if desired. The signatures are notable for a varied and interesting selection of all-time legends, Oscar winners, beloved character actors, sitcom and Western staples, and many early examples from up-and-comers who went on to earn a place in the entertainment pantheon. Of special interest from an historical standpoint is the original collector’s marginal documentary notations, which in many cases not only include the date but such venues as the legendary Hollywood hot spot Sardi’s and specific theatrical productions (in which case he noted whether the signer was in the cast or an audience member). Apart from some mild toning and a few scattered tape marks, small tears, and the like, most of the pages are in fine, clean condition overall. R&R COA.
