Description

TLS signed “Ronald,” one page, 6.5 x 8.75, White House letterhead, April 11, 1983. Reagan writes to the Misses Sam and Bertha Sisco. In part: “About the pictures: I think turning away from each other would be best, and just finish the edges by rubbing them. I’ll leave the subject matter to you I’ve learned now that whatever you decide is always better that what I might suggest…. We’ve had a two year supply of rain but since we’re up in the coast range—no damage….” As recounted in the book A Life in Letters, the Sisco sisters befriended Reagan when they wrote to him in 1972 during his tenure as governor, seeking assistance for their mentally handicapped brother. Reagan directed them to state programs which would provide assistance, and once even sent his personal rocking chair and a check. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. In very fine condition. R&R COA.
