Description

Paying his WWII Army outfit

American soldier and actor (1924–1971) whose heroism during World War II earned him the Medal of Honor. After the war, Murphy parlayed his popularity, small-town charm, and baby-faced good looks into a respectable film career, appearing in a string of (mostly) westerns and war dramas. He died in a plane crash at the age of 46. Check, 8.25 x 3.75, filled out in type and signed by Murphy, payable to Society of the Third Infantry Division, Inc. for $4.00, December 18, 1956. A few creases, wrinkles, and tiny edge tears, usual punch cancellations (away from signature), and light bank stamp just touching first name, otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
