Highly regarded Academy Award–winning American lyricist (1909–1976) who penned such classics as “One for My Baby,” “Days of Wine and Roses,” and “Moon River.” Vintage AMQS in ink, four measures of “Dream” on a cream 9 x 3.5 slip of manuscript paper, signed and inscribed “Best wishes to Lionel Aucoin, Johnny Mercer,” the composer also adding the block-printed caption “Words & music by Johnny Mercer.” A notation on the reverse indicates that the item was obtained from Hollywood in 1945.
