Description

American pro golfer (1906–1997) who won the 1938 Masters and 1939 PGA Championships and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2006. ALS signed “Pick,” one page both sides, 8.5 x 11, Country Club of Harrisburg letterhead, July 7, 1944. Picard writes to Alex. In part: “Have been trying to get you some balls—boy they are a scarce article and if I do lay my hands on any I will send them to you…. It is too bad you didn’t get the proper connections as I am positive the position you desire is greatly needed in all war plants…. The children are fine and Billy is playing very well. Had a couple of 85s. He really amazes me with his golf…. My draft status is now 1-A. Expect my call anytime…. Have played very well this year thou [sic] my putting is off. Have had 67-60-71-68 in four exhibitions and won me a few bonds. Did well at Philly except for one nine….” Staple holes and mild handling wear, otherwise fine condition.
