Partly printed DS as governor, one page trimmed in size to 11 x 13, July 1, 1781. A commission for Abel Mason as “Captain of the Fifth Company in the fifth Regiment of Militia in the County of Worcester in said Commonwealth whereof Tim: Newall Estr. is Colonel….” Countersigned by John Avery. In good condition, with intersecting folds (separations, chips, and holes stabilized by expert allover reinforcement to reverse; vertical separation through first letter of signature) and scattered toning with a few small spots.
