Description

American artist (1870–1966) best known for his luminous, often fantastic landscapes and romantic illustrations of nudes. His 1920 painting Daybreak was extensively reproduced, becoming the biggest-selling print of its day. ALS, written and signed in his distinctive calligraphic hand, one page, 7.75 x 10, April 18, 1901. Parrish writes from Saranac Lake, New York to Frank Chotean Brown. In full: “Now that you allow me more time I shall be glad to try and furnish you with a page of lettering….” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. Intersecting mailing folds (vertical fold to last name) and faint offsetting of signature to blank portion at bottom, otherwise fine, clean condition. Unusual from this early date! R&R COA.
