Wife of Grover Cleveland and first lady from 1886 to 1889 and from 1893 to 1897. The Clevelands remain the only presidential couple to be married in the White House. ALS signed “Frances F. Cleveland Preston,” one page both sides, 5.75 x 6.75, January 4, 1933. The former first lady writes to Emma Crowell in Pennsylvania. In part: “So far as I now know, I shall be very glad to accept the very kind invitation of you-girls of the class of 87 of the Girls High School of Philadelphia, and I thank you all for asking me. It ought to be very interesting….” Accompanied by the original hand-addressed mailing envelope bearing Mrs. Cleveland’s franking signature. A hint of mild toning, otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
