Description

American actress (1908–1942) who enjoyed great success as a popular screen comedienne in the 1930s and who became Mrs. Clark Gable in 1939. On January 16, 1942, the plane in which Lombard was traveling en route to a war bond rally crashed into Mount Potosi near Las Vegas, killing all aboard. Lovely oversized vintage glossy Otto Dyer close-up photo, neatly trimmed in size to 10 x 13, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “To Marian Droi[?], In sincere appreciation for your many kindness [sic] to me, Cordially, Carole.” Tiny scattered surface marks (a few unobtrusively touching face; a small ding or two), light edge wear (easily matted out; small corner loss at upper right, affecting background only ), and indistinct contrast to a few words against background, no faults materially detracting from the visual impact, otherwise fine condition. PSA/DNA Auction LOA and R&R COA.
