Popular silent-era screen comedian (1869–1940) whose most distinctive feature was his crossed eyes, which were reportedly insured against uncrossing by Lloyd’s of London. Vintage glossy photo of Turpin examining a broken golf club, trimmed in size to 9.75 x 7.5, signed in ink “Best wishes, Ben Turpin.” The photo also bears the notation “Photo by L. A. Wicke.” In very good condition, with trimming as noted, a few scattered dings and surface marks, tear to top edge touching background (tape repaired from reverse).
