In part, “It is with the deepest grief that I have learned of your son’s death in Vietnam…Your son gave his life in devotion to this country and to its ideals and there is no higher act of courage and meaning in pursuit of a just cause. It is my fervent hope and prayer that his death and the deaths of his comrades will somehow and sometime bring us closer to the day when wars are no more, when mankind is at peace, and when out of such sacrifices will come the better world for which your son gave him life.” Accompanied by the original mailing envelopes.
