Description

ORBIT AGENDA: Original flown APOLLO 11 flight plan signed by ALDRIN and annotated by ARMSTRONG and COLLINS

Original printed page from the flight plan used and carried to the moon on the Apollo 11 mission, one page both sides, 10.5 x 8, signed in ballpoint, “Carried to the moon on Apollo XI, Buzz Aldrin.” Included with the lot is an undated TLS signed “Buzz Aldrin” explaining the purpose and provenance of the item. In part: “Enclosed with this letter is a sheet numbered 3-55 and 3-55a from the Apollo 11 Flight Plan…. It is part of the entire document that was carried to the moon in Command Module Columbia during the first lunar landing mission. This sheet is from the detailed time line section and covers hour 84 to the beginning of hour 85 of the mission. Page 3-55 lists our Eat Period which was our dinner prior to our fourth sleep period. We had gone into lunar orbit earlier in the day and were currently making our fifth orbit of the Moon. Neil Armstrong recorded our radiation exposure values at the upper right hand notes sections…. Neil also checked off 9 items in our CSM Presleep Checklist data box and wrote: ‘LM/CM P’ below the box…. Mike Collins make [sic] the six ‘left handed’ check marks in the data box plus entered: ‘Waste Vent—Closed’ near the bottom of the page…. The flight plan was probably the single most important document related to the success of our mission. It provided a time schedule of crew activities and spacecraft maneuvers to accomplish the first lunar landing…. This page has been in my private collection since 1969….” A superb and significant relic from this most avidly collected of space missions! COA Scott Cornish and R&R COA.
