Description

“We have to fulfil the testament of millions of our killed brothers”

Nazi concentration camp survivor (1908–2005) who dedicated his life to tracking down and prosecuting former Nazis who had persecuted Jews during World War II. He made worldwide headlines in 1961 for the capture of notorious Nazi fugitive Adolf Eichmann. TLS signed “Wiesenthal,” one page, 8.25 x 11.75, Dokumentationsentrum des Bundes Jüdischer Verfolgter des Naziregimes letterhead, November 12, 1964. Wiesenthal writes to Neil Carter in New York City. In part: “I am always very happy when I receive a letter like yours as it is very encouraging and I consider it an appreciation to my work, which I am not doing for myself but I think we have to fulfil [sic] the testament of millions of our killed brothers. I am so grateful for any contribution as it helps to my work because we are now in the last year, where we still can persecute the murderers of our people. 1965 comes the limitation and then nothing can be done any more…. There are not to [sic] many people, who think the way you do. The world has and wants to forget…. If you are interested, CBS made an interview with me this summer, which will be broadcast on December 13, under the serie [title] ‘The Twentieth Century—Anne Frank’….” Intersecting mailing folds (one just touching one letter), otherwise fine, clean condition. R&R COA.
