British author and illustrator (1866–1943) whose Edwardian-era tales of naughty rabbits, “bad” mice, and other amusingly mischievous animals take a place among the most enduring and beloved works in the annals of children’s literature. Her first and best-known book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit, has sold more than 40 million copies since it was first published in 1902. Printed greeting card featuring a color illustration of two of Potter’s rabbits on the front panel, 4.25 x 6, signed and inscribed in fountain pen on the interior, “[From] Beatrix Potter [To] Celia N. Edwards, Christmas 1936.” Following her marriage to solicitor William Heelis in 1913, Potter consistently used her married name on documents and in correspondence; autograph material signed as “Beatrix Potter,” particularly from this period of her life, is of the greatest scarcity. In excellent, perfectly preserved condition. An exceptional and particularly lovely prize from this highly desirable author! Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
