German Field Marshal who earned the sobriquet “The Desert Fox” for his tactical genius as Commander of the Afrika Korps. In 1944 he was implicated in a plot to assassinate Hitler; given the choice of suicide or a trial, he ended his own life with poison. DS, in German, signed “Rommel,” one page both sides, 8.25 x 11.75, October 24, 1941. Rommel signs off for a soldier nominated for the award of the Iron Cross, second class. Signed at the bottom in pencil by Rommel as General der Panzergruppen. In fine condition, with punchy holes to right edge, and a couple small office notations. R&R COA.
