Fabulous D&M City League baseball signed in various colored ink by twenty-five players from the New York Yankees, Philadelphia Athletics, and the Boston Braves. Signatures indicate the ball was most likely signed sometime during the 1927 spring training in Florida. The highlight signatures on the ball are side panel signatures of “‘Babe’ Ruth,” “Lou Gehrig,” and “Jimmie Foxx.” Remaining signers are: Eddie Moore, Mark Koenig, and Tony Lazzeri (all signed on the sweet spot), Joe Dugan, S. L. Cannon, Jack Fournier, Eddie Collins, Alex Metzler, Jim Poole, Joe Pate (signed twice), Rube Walberg, George Mogridge, Eddie Brown, Mickey Cochrane, Harry Johnson, Bennie Bengough, Earl Combs, Bob Meusel, Zack Wheat, Doc Gautreau, and Sammie Hale. In fine condition, with a light shade of overall toning to ball, a few scuffs and surface marks, small water spot to Moore’s signature, and a couple signatures a shade or two light, but all completely legible. Ruth’s. Gehrig’s, and Foxx’s signatures are all crisp and bold. Both Ruth’s and Gehrig’s signatures appear on the same panel for optimal display. There are but a few known balls signed by the “big three,” one of the most heralded trio of signatures in all of baseball, combined with four other Hall of Famers present on the ball, the quality of the condition, and the historical year in which the signatures were obtained, make this a true baseball treasure.
