TLS, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, January 17, 1983. Nixon writes to Robert Melo in Paterson, New Jersey. In full: “I had been looking forward with some trepidation to crossing the threshold into the seventies. But your remembering me so thoughtfully made the day a very special one—filled with thoughts of the future rather than the past. Mrs. Nixon joins me in sending our very best wishes for the New Year.” Accompanied by a printed souvenir photo captioned “Richard Nixon on his seventieth birthday, January 9, 1983.” In very good condition, with scattered pinholes, soiling, and handling wear, no faults affecting the signature. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
