President Monroe grants Ebenezer Balkcom, “late a Corporal in Townsend’s Company of the Ninth Regiment of Infantry,” 160 acres of land in the Illinois Territory. Signed at the bottom in black ink by Monroe, and countersigned by Commissioner of the General Land Office Josiah Meigs. In very good condition, with intersecting storage folds, even overall toning, a few darker spots to left edge, and some light wrinkling.
