Description

Son of President Abraham Lincoln (1843–1926) who served as Secretary of War in the Garfield and Arthur administrations. TLS signed “Robert T. Lincoln,” one page, 7.75 x 9.5, Pullman Company letterhead, January 4, 1901. Lincoln writes to railroad executive F. Middlebrook. In part: “I have to advise you that the Car Lease Agreements to which you refer were, in accordance with law, duly recorded…. We do not record the releases in such cases, the practice being for the railway company to make such record as it deem advisable....” In very good condition, with intersecting mailing folds (vertical fold to “R”), creases and wrinkles, and a few staple and spindle holes.
