Union general (1826–1885) removed from command by Lincoln for his failure to exert pressure on Lee’s army during the crucial Peninsula Campaign. He ran unsuccessfully for the presidency in 1864 and later served as Governor of New Jersey. Partly printed DS, signed “Geo. B. McClellan,” two pages both sides, 9.25 x 14.75, December 6, 1878. A legal document involving a parcel of land on Delaware Bay. The original hand-drawn map of the area in question is included. Accompanied by an antique portrait engraving. In very good condition, with one fold touching “C” of signature and scattered creases, mild soiling, and handling wear. R&R COA.
