Official Reach baseball, manufactured between 1920 and 1924, signed in fountain pen on the sweet spot, “‘Babe’ Ruth,” with the signature dating to either 1922 or 1923. On the south panel (panel below the signature), there is a small faded notation which reads “Chi-0.” Also, on the north panel (panel above the signature) someone wrote the name “Babe Ruth” in pencil, sideways and stacked it, which is nothing more than an identifier, likely written by the original owner of the ball. In very good condition, with mild overall soiling to ball, a bit of light scuffing to a couple letters of Ruth’s signature, light traces of a couple other removed or unsuccessful signatures, and scattered light surface marks and scuffs. While there are early signed Ruth baseballs, they certainly are not as plentiful as balls signed after 1927. A desirable single-signed ball by baseball’s greatest name! Auction LOA Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
