Description

“We sometimes forget that the nation that produced Stalin in the 20th century gave the world Tolstoy, Dostoyevsky, Pushkin, and Tchayskovsky in the 19th century.”

TLS signed “RN,” one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, July 27, 1992. Letter to Proctor Jones referring to a speech given by Procter on July 25, 1984. In part, “I cannot qualify as an expert on economic issues, but the letter you wrote to President Yeltsin last September made a great deal of sense to me…We sometimes forget that the nation that produced Stalin in the 20th century gave the world Tolstoy, Dostoyevsky, Pushkin, and Tchayskovsky in the 19th century. You are one of the few who recognized early on how much the Americans and Russians have in common.” Nixon also handwrites the greeting at the beginning of the letter. In very fine condition. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
