A week before the fateful accident that ultimately claimed his life

TLS signed “G. S. Patton, Jr.,” one page, 8 x 10.25, Headquarters Fifteenth US Army letterhead, December 2, 1945. Patton writes to Mrs. R. H. Martin in Washington, D.C. In full: “My signature to this letter is the autograph you request.” Patton died on December 21 of an embolism sustained during a traffic accident on December 9. In fair condition, with light toning (a few small stains), marginal chips and tears, creases (light crease to “Jr.”) and wrinkles. The signature is dark and otherwise unaffected. R&R COA.
