Description

American playwright, songwriter, and actor (1878–1942), widely regarded as the father of American musical comedy, who takes a place among the most beloved entertainers of his era. TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, Catholic Actors Guild letterhead, April 9, 1940. Letter of thanks to Red Skelton for his appearance at a function. In part, “Our grateful thanks for your kindness in appearing at our Grand Ball and Entertainment on Friday night…We were so happy to have you, and I know you will be glad to hear that many of our guests made a point of telling me how much they enjoyed you.” In fine condition, with intersecting mailing folds, punch and staple holes to top, and a red pencil notation to right.
