Description

The ‘Bambino’ poses with his buddies on the set of Pride of the Yankees

Vintage matte-finish 6.5 x 4.5 photo of Ruth and three of his Yankee teammates, three in their road jerseys and likely posing on the set of Pride of the Yankees, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To Jack - From Babe Ruth.” Matted and framed to an overall size of 9.5 x 8.5. Mat also bears vintage clubhouse signatures and inscriptions of Bill Dickey, Vernon Rickard, and Joe Gordon. Mat also bears a notation of “The Pride of the Yankees, Life of Lou Gehrig, Sam Golwyn Co.,” in the lower right, and a date of “April 1, 1942,” on the reverse backing. Dickey was Lou Gehrig’s roommate and the first Yankee to know he had contracted amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). He was the only active player to appear in The Pride of the Yankees. Some moderate contrast to Ruth’s signature from dark background and light ink flow, otherwise fine condition. Auction LOA Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
